Even the way you breathe when you’re on a stage will alter your planned speech; what more if you stand in front of a crowd unprepared without a script, sufficient practice or rehearsal? Speaking with confidence comes from content, language and presentation preparedness. Understanding the crowd you are addressing helps with it too. Your body should move like a conductor leading an orchestra with the exact message to deliver during a presentation.
The failure or success of a speech will be assessed by the crowd listening to you on how well and clearly you express yourself on stage. They will interpret your gestures and spoken words; your sincerity and honesty in helping them understand or perceive something that would be useful information to them. A self-centered speech will fail to address the needs of the crowd listening to you. It must be a crowd-centered speech.
Things to look out for when you’re on stage:
- Non-verbal communication & body language
- Reading your written speech is a big NO!! Communicate with your audience, engage them
